Isaiah 30:18
“Therefor the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you.
And therefor He may be exalted, that He may have mercy on you…
Blessed are all those who wait for Him.”
Have you ever thought about what it means to “wait upon the Lord”? It means to pray and get into the word of course, but, it also means that when we ask for something we often have to wait for the answer. Waiting for the answer, waiting to hear from God on direction for what to do with our life, these things are not easy. But let me encourage you today with Isaiah 30:18 “the Lord will wait,”. That means He is waiting on us just as we wait on Him! Let that sink in for a moment, God…waits…on…you…too. So if He is waiting on us, is it so much to ask that we return the favour? Instead of jumping in on opportunities as they present themselves, wait and pray. Just by taking the time to seek Him, to ask His will, we are being obedient! “Blessed are all those who wait for Him”. Wait further to make sure we do what He answers and we will be blessed!
Remember, God is the Master Ploughman, and our hearts, our minds and our spirits are His field. He knows exactly when to plough, when to sow, when to water, when to bless, when to encourage and when to stay His hand. If we find ourselves waiting longer than we’d like, to hear an answer, know that it is so the answer comes at the right time for us. He waited 4000 years after creation to send His son after all.
In conclusion, we are to try to be as patient with God as He is with us. Know without a shadow of a doubt that He is waiting on us. Know that if we are looking for something from Him today our answer will come, and when it comes it will not be even one minute too late. Our answer, like Him, will be perfect.
I’m just out of my teen years but always love to be reminded to take ALL decisions to God. I have often flown by the seat of my pants and I still do in small things. Most of the time it works-because I know that God loves and has protected me. Even before I knew HIM. Thanking HIM for HIS grace and mercy. Now that I have grown in my relationship with God I do bring most big, challenging even and small decisions to Him- waiting for the answer is hard, sometimes hearing the answer is hard; even if deep down I know it’s the right one. That being said I feel that sometimes God has put a thought into my head and that it is Him who makes it work-even when I don’t pray about it.
I agree, it is hard to bring the small things to Him Barb. I think it’s because we think they are small, but how many times have the biggest things happened because of the smallest things? Also, it’s doubly hard to wait for direction when we’re in a hurry to get all our “things” done.
You knocked this one out of the park!
Well said, you have made me ponder somethings of my own.
Thanks Peculiar Ploughman.
I’m glad to hear it Danielle! Think! Wrestle! Struggle! This is how we grow stronger in both mind and spirit!
